Employment Insurance on-line
May 29 2002 - Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) has introduced a new electronic service Appli-web which allows Canadians to apply on-line for Employment Insurance (EI).
The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, giving claimants access to Government information and services on-line at the time and place of their choosing. Appli-web is available to anyone applying for EI regular benefits and maternity, parental, sickness and fishing benefits. Appli-web also includes a built-in help feature to help them fill out their EI application form.
Appli-web uses 128-bit encryption to provide the same level of security as the on-line services provided by financial institutions.
Appli-web joins other electronic services already available:
- Teledec: allowing claimants to submit their bi-weekly reports by touch-tone telephone.
- Direct Deposit: claimants can have their EI payments deposited directly into their accounts at their financial institution.
- Telemessage: claimants can obtain general information about the EI program and specific information about their EI claim.
Employment Insurance services can still be accessed by more traditional methods: by telephone, in person at the Department's offices and by mail.
Appli-web can be accessed through the Human Resources Development Canada Internet site at www.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca/ei-ae, and then through the Appli-web icon.
