Networking Nights for New York, Atlanta, Washington, D.C and Chicago

May 21 2004 - Monday, May 24 the New York Times Job Market "Networking Nights" series kicks off again in New York City. But this year it will extend to other select U.S. cities including Atlanta, Washington, DC and Chicago. As before, the "Networking Nights" series brings together career counselors, industry experts and company hiring managers from a range of industries with workplace professionals seeking career development or new employment opportunities.

This year's spring/summer schedule is New York City (May 24, June 7 and June 28), Atlanta (June 14), Washington, DC (June 21) and Chicago (July 12).

All "Networking Nights" sessions take place on Monday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at select Starbucks Coffee locations. Admission to all sessions is free but require pre-registration online at NYTimes.com/jobmarket/netnights where registrants will receive specific location information.

Topics to be discussed during the series include:

* Learning how to sell yourself, your product and your company
* Finding jobs in companies that value diversity
* Getting the most out of your Rolodex: The keys to effective networking
* Networking through your career in the public sector
* Finding the interviews that other job hunters never hear about

"Job seekers' response to 'Networking Nights' has been tremendous," said Stephanie Horton, manager, advertising promotion, The New York Times. "They have helped dozens of people secure new jobs and have provided thousands more with useful career information. Given its success in New York during the last two years, we felt it was a good time to extend 'Networking Nights' to other national markets as job recruitment picks up. We believe recruiters see 'Networking Nights' as an effective resource to identify quality talent in today's marketplace."

"Starbucks Coffee is proud to be part of the success of 'Networking Nights' and to provide our venues as meeting places for the communities we serve," said Daniel Lewis, Starbucks Coffee regional spokesperson.

"Networking Nights" debuted in 2002 as a community service to help New Yorkers find jobs locally and will once again be presented in conjunction with Starbucks Coffee, the exclusive venue for all "Networking Nights" sessions.

Networking Nights for New Yorkers

September 25 2002 - Starting Monday 30 September 2002 the New York Times Job Market will provide free "Networking Nights" for job-seekers in conjunction with Starbucks Coffee and WPLJ Radio.

Described as a community service, "Networking Nights" is a series of events with weekly sessions on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. running through December 2, 2002. Selected Starbucks Coffee locations in Manhattan will serve as the exclusive venue.

Job-seekers will have the opportunity to meet corporate hiring managers from a range of industries, including retail, healthcare, education, pharmaceutical and biotechnology, finance and the public sector. Representatives from top recruitment agencies, including Robert Half International, will also participate in "Networking Nights" to help job seekers develop effective job search strategies and interview techniques.

"With many people seeking employment, we hope that 'Networking Nights' will provide a valuable resource for both those looking for jobs and those recruiters and hiring managers looking to fill jobs," said Alyse Myers, vice president, marketing services, The New York Times.

"Starbucks Coffee is proud to host "Networking Nights," said Daniel Lewis, Starbucks Coffee regional spokesperson. "Providing a comfortable gathering place for our customers is part of our mission, and serving as a community resource is an additional way that we can help New Yorkers connect and contribute to the health of the city."
