Intercultural Role Requirement Focus Questions
- Which of your organization or company’s employees have the most frequent contact with people in other countries? Are these contacts a regular part of their jobs?
- Do these international contacts reflect ongoing official or business relationships? If so, with whom?
- Are these relationships important to your international business success or organizational mission? If so, why are they important and how do they affect the outcome?
- Does the senior management recognize their importance?
- Are there advantages to be gained by improving cross-border relations?
- Do the employees who have intercultural roles and responsibilities belong to identifiable groups? If so, what are the groups?
- Do the employees in these groups face common or similar cross-cultural challenges? If so, what are these challenges?
- Are employees members of cross-border or multicultural teams?
- Do your employees have the appropriate awareness, attitudes, knowledge, and skills to effectively perform their cross-cultural roles?
- What are their cross-cultural knowledge and skill requirements? Are they aware of their needs in these areas? Are they motivated to learn?
- Are there resources for providing them training and development? If not, how can the necessary support be obtained?
