A Fifth Of Australian Workers Top $1400 A Week
April 15 2009 - Australian Bureau of Statistics results, just released, show that in August 2008, 19.1% of Australian employees earned $1400 or more per week.

NSW wages going backwards, say ACTU
November 24 2006 - New research by ACTU appears to show that workers in New South Wales are being hard hit by the Government's industrial relations laws with average wages for full time employees falling by AS$33 a week in real terms over the last year.

ACTU submits claim for $26.60 increase in national minimum wage
April 12 2005 - Speaking at the start of the 2005 annual minimum wages case before the Australian Industrial Relations Commission in Melbourne, Greg Combet, ACTU Secretary on Minimum wages.


20 February 2005 - The ACTU has lodged its main submission to the Australian Industrial Relations Commission for a $26.60 increase in the national minimum wage for 1.6 million low paid Australians. Unions feel this may be the last ever national wage case of its type.

AHA Opposes Minimum Award Wage Rises
February 14 2003- The Australian Hotels Association (AHA) has supported calls from Tony Abbott, the Federal Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations to encourage the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) to assess whether workers will lose their jobs before allowing minimum award wages to rise.
