December 20 2008 - Hilary Humphrey has been appointed Regional Labour Market Project Leader
to address workforce issues and skilled labour shortages faced by Manawatu organisations.
Operating from Vision Manawatu, her role will be pivotal and crucial for the region's future according to
Chief Executive Andrew Powrie. He believes that the new management role will be crucial in bringing together employers
facing challenges, ensuring that the job market works effectively in Manawatu. Andrew Powrie said:
"Currently there is no cohesive regional strategy, and elements of work in this area are happening
in a disconnected manner.
"Now specific goals in key areas can be formulated and managed through projects - based on
comprehensive research.
"Hilary Humphrey's appointment to lead this strategic project was a clear and unanimous choice by the interview panel.
Her previous work as Manawatu Defence Hub facilitator has been valuable in her gaining a broad and in-depth
understanding of the region-wide concerns through her professional networks," he added.
The post will be funded from the Ministry of
Social Development's Enterprising Communities Programme.
